height="300" width="191" />The importance of hair and how people look at you because of your hair is not a new phenomenon. A lustrous head of hair connotes feelings of femininity, masculinity, youthfulness, and health. That is the reason why more and more people, men included, put a great value to their hair and hair care. If you are a hair freak like most people are, here are some of the facts about a superb oil used for hair to make it look and feel better.

Argan Oil Facts:

100% argan oil is 100% natural. What this means is that it does not contain any artificial ingredients or synthetic additives making it safe for most hair and scalps, causing less reactions to sensitivity.

Rich in both vitamin E and Omega fatty acids, argan oil will surely revitalize and nourish dry and frizzy hair.

Repairing of cellular membranes in hair is brought about by essential fatty acids found in argan oil.

Argan oil also helps color treated hair. Essential fatty acids found in argan oil coats and smoothens the follicle shaft. This ability to smoothen and coat the follicle shaft allows for the life of hair color to last longer in hair.

Omega 6 which is also found in argan oil is very beneficial in a sense that it not only helps nourish dry scalp, but better, it protects your hair from extreme environmental stressors.

Also rich in Omega 9, argan oil helps improve hair strength and health.

On the other hand, vitamin E is a known powerful antioxidant that helps fight free radicals that damage hair over time.

Vitamin E also helps with circulation, helping hair nutrients keep hair healthy.

Because vitamin E may be retained in the epidermis for up to 6 mos., vitamin E benefits brought about by argan oil can extend for a longer period of time.

Argan oil is not greasy and it is easily absorbed by the hair.

It is an excellent product that can lock in moisture successfully, making hair shiny.

Argan oil easily penetrates the hair shaft, quickly improving hair follicle elasticity and amplifies nourishment.

Raw argan oil or 100% argan oil is known to have high concentrations of vitamin E which is extremely useful in the human body including the hair. This type of argan oil is also rich in fatty acids, about 80%, that are more defiant to oxidation making its benefits last longer. Fatty acids such as palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid are extremely beneficial to the hair as it helps store vital nutrients to keep hair healthy and shiny.

Hair is indeed an important aspect in one’s everyday life. Hair product manufacturers and hair salons make a ton of money because people give how their hair looks like a whole lot of value. Well if you really value your hair, give argan oil a try and experience its many benefits first hand!

Argan Oil, an Effective Cure For Dry Hair

  Nov 26, 2010 | 0 comments

One of the most common hair problems is having dry hair. What’s bad about having dry hair is that people notice it right away. Even without touching hair, one would be able to distinguish dry hair from a healthy one. The look is just so much different from what is healthy. Usually frizzy and out of control, dry hair would be spotted a mile away not just by the experts but by regular citizens as well. Do you have dry hair? Would you want to avoid having dry hair? If you do, then read on and find out how you can keep your hair from becoming dry and brittle.

What Causes Dry Hair?
Here are some of the most common reasons why people get dry and brittle hair:

Moisture level in the body is low. Normal moisture level should be 80% for the hair to be in a healthy condition. Proper moisture in the body can be achieved through hydrating by drinking at least 8 glasses of water each day.

Extreme temperatures affect the hair. Extreme temperatures such as extreme cold or extreme heat damage the hair. Living in areas that have extreme temperatures are therefore not advisable. If it cannot be avoided, proper moisturizing should be applied to hair on a regular basis.

Use of harsh shampoos and conditioners are a factor. Chemicals damage the hair. Using harsh shampoos and conditioners will do your hair more harm than good. Look at the ingredients written in bottles before you purchase them. Also make sure that you buy the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type.

Procedures that damage hair. Constant blow-drying, coloring, bleaching, and back-combing your hair can both damage and make your hair dry. These procedures although would make your hair look nice right after they have been made, will destroy your hair in the long run.

Argan Oil for Dry Hair?
Here are some argan oil benefits for dry hair:

A little goes a long way. A few drops of argan oil applied to hair can help restore damaged and dry hair.

Argan oil brings remarkable shine to dull hair.

Argan oil prevents hair damage that is due to styling, perming, blow-drying, back-combing, coloring, and bleaching.

Argan oil improves elasticity and reduces hair loss due to breakage.

How Can Argan Oil Do All of These?
Here are some important factors:

Vitamin E – this important nutrient helps heal and nourish dry and damaged hair. It has rich amounts of free-radicals which help protect hair from various environmental factors and chemicals.

Vitamin F – also known as Omega 6, this nutrient helps alleviate dryness of hair. It helps moisturize and keeps healthy hair growth while discouraging split ends and breakage.

Argan and hair is a match made in heaven. Hair needs nourishment and argan oil has loads of nourishment to give. So if you have dry, brittle, damaged hair, look into argan oil for nourishment! It is never too late to revitalize your hair back to health.

Article on Argan oil

Frizzy Hair Breakthrough With Argan!

  Dec 01, 2010 | 0 comments

Men and women alike are conscious about their hair. In truth, although women are more obvious, men sometimes take more time with their hair than some women. Embarrassing but true. Especially for troublesome hair like having frizzy hair – minutes may not be enough to control or hide them!

Frizzy hair aside from being genetic may be caused by dryness. Dehydrated hair that lacks moisture causes the hair to be very porous. When hair is not able to maintain the natural moisture that it needs it becomes dry and curly. Do you have frizzy hair? If you do, then read on and learn the latest breakthrough that could change your life!

What causes frizzy hair?

When hair is over exposed to the sun, hair becomes dry and frizzy. Your hair will become damages as the sun’s rays will take away natural hair moisture.

Excessive blow drying has the same effects to your hair as over exposing it to the sun. Extreme and frequent exposure to heat will damage and dry hair, causing it to become frizzy.

Humidity may cause straight and smooth hair to become frizzy. Moisture brought about by humidity causes the hair shaft to bend or twist to one side or the other, bringing about damaged and frizzy hair.

Knowing and avoiding the factors that cause frizzy hair will help you lessen it. If you have already gotten frizzy hair and are looking for cures, then you’ve come to the right place! Here we will discuss how frizzy hair can be managed and how to effectively moisturize it.

Dry, damaged, frizzy hair may be helped with the use of a good conditioner. Try finding conditioners that have good amounts of dimethicone in them. A good conditioner is not only good with moisturizing your hair, it may also block the effects of water caused by humidity.

If you have already tried almost all types of conditioners on your hair with no luck, then today is your lucky day. Here is the latest frizzy hair breakthrough!

Argan Oil
Argan oil was discovered by foreigners a few years back from the land of Morocco. Indigenous women from this place used argan oil for centuries for both their cosmetic and curative effects. It wasn’t until recently though that this oil was brought to other countries for studies and testing. As it turns out, this oil is rich in nutrients.

Argan oil is a great natural product that contains Vitamin A, Vitamin F and Omega 6. Three great nutrients that help retain moisture and heal damaged hair. Both men and women with frizzy hair are turning to this product to solve their frizzy hair problems as argan oil replenishes hair with nutrients and hydrates it therefore stopping it from being frizzy.

Argan oil is very light and it is easily absorbed not just by the hair strands but deeper through the scalp as well. It also nourishes without feeling greasy. It helps make hair become more shiny and healthy without leaving a greasy film on the hairs surface.

Truly a wonderful breakthrough for frizzy hair, argan oil has been proven to work instantly. An amazing product that has been used for many generations in Morocco has finally been discovered! Try this amazing product and get that hair you have always dreamed of.

Article on Argan oil

Curing Chapped Lips With Argan Oil!

  Dec 03, 2010 | 0 comments

Chapped lips although manageable are very uncomfortable. Especially on cold, windy, or winter days, chapped lips are common. When chapped lips are left untreated, lips may itch, flake, and even crack and bleed. When your lips start to crack and bleed that is the time you are most likely to take notice and find a solution.

How should one care for his/her lips?
Keeping the lips moisturized all year round will enable your lips to fight against environmental factors such as cold and wind. Also, by keeping your lips healthy you are able to escape the dreaded chapped lips episode you would most definitely get during cold weather. It’s easy to care for your lips. Here are some suggestions:

Drink the daily required water – 8 8oz glasses of water

Eat healthy foods and vegetables

Refrain from too much salt

Keep your lips moisturized by using lip moisturizers

These among many others will help guarantee healthy, un-chapped lips all year through. Because the two main reasons for chapped skin are the environmental elements (sun, wind, air) and dehydration, following the suggestions given above will surely nourish your lips and keep them from, itching, flaking, cracking and bleeding.

Argan Oil and Chapped Lips
Are you a victim of chapped lips? Are you finding it hard to keep your lips healthy and hydrated? Well you can always apply certain medication to sooth and heal your lips if you already have chapped lips. Some get more acne than others. Acne may appear in places such as the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. People with acne usually have lasting scars to prove it. It is important then to answer these questions: What causes acne and how can argan oil help stop prevent it?

The skin is normally lubricated by oil produced by the body’s oil glands. When there is an overpopulation of oil, a skin condition known as acne occurs. One of the most common acne producing oils in our bodies is called sebum [see-bum]. When this oil is overproduced by the oil glands usually due to hormones surge, people get acne. Surging of hormones and high production of sebum are the reasons why most teens, women who are about to get their periods, and sometimes women who are nearing menopause get acne.

Can we avoid acne?
We sure can! With the use of a particular oil which people are calling “miraculous”, acne may be prevented, lessened, and cured.

Argan Oil: Your Acne Cure

Argan oil helps prevent, lessen, and cure acne by stopping the root cause of acne – overpopulation of sebum. With regular application of argan oil to various body parts prone to acne, sebum production will be lessened. This will avoid acne swarmed skin. As argan oil helps prevent sebum from being over produced, argan oil in effect helps promote a balanced sebum production in the body, keeping skin healthy.

Daily application of argan oil also helps unclog pores or pores that have already been infected by overpopulation of sebum. Unclogging the pores will help excess oils be released, clearing the skin in no time.

As 100% argan oil is an all natural product, even people with sensitive skin caused acne may be treated with it.

Some people with acne will have other internal problems such as having a low self-esteem, feeling anxiety, and experiencing depression. Treating acne and preventing it may be the key to help a person improve his quality of life. Others may think that curing acne may not be as important because it is not a deadly disease. But clearly people of all ages will have better confidence, less anxiety and depression, and would eventually have a happier life without acne.

Products containing 100% argan oil if applied daily to skin will definitely improve one’s skin condition. A couple of week’s application may show a positive change in one’s skin appearance, giving the skin not just a lighter tone but a natural glow as well.

So if you’re still asking, “How does argan oil do it?”
It’s simple! Argan oil reduces the body’s production of sebum, a type of oil produced by our bodies that inadvertently causes the production of acne in the skin. Also, argan oil’s unclogging wonders help excess oils already trapped in the skin to escape and clear out. So if you plan to have a better looking skin, free from acne, use 100% argan oil daily and see results in weeks!

Article on Argan oil

Argan Oil, The Pure Source Of Beauty!

What is Argan oil?

Argan oil is an ancient beauty secret.

5 Reasons To Get Obsessed with Argan Oil

              April 30, 2009

In case you haven’t heard the hype, argan oil is one the latest (and supposedly greatest) beauty ingredients around—loaded with vitamin E and fatty acids to make you gorgeous in all sorts of ways. In Morocco, where they get it from the kernels of argan trees, people say it’s a cure-all for everything from zits to wrinkles to psoriasis. In our offices, we discovered its more immediate effects, thanks to supermodel-turned-beauty-maven Josie Maran. (Give us more time to test and we’ll get back to you on the pimple/wrinkle business.) Maran packs her all-natural (or, as she calls them, “chic-ological”) skin-care products with argan oil, and the straight-up bottle of 100% oil is her line’s best-seller. But trust us, it’s not her low-key sales pitch that sold us. Woman has amazing skin and the most exquisitely shiny hair, and gives her daily dose of argan oil the credit (we’ll assume mom, dad, and some pretty primo genes have something to do with it, too). Maran smoothes the stuff on her face every morning and night in lieu of ordinary moisturizer, over dry patches on her body to vanquish scales, over her hair instead of silicone products, and on her cuticles and nails to prevent cracks. Oh, she also slathered her prego stomach with it for nine months to help avoid stretch marks (yes, even Sports Illustrated swimsuit models are vulnerable). All we have to say is that we adopted her routine (minus the stretch-mark bit) and we are now officially o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d.

PHOTO: COURTESY OF JOSIE MARAN

Article on Argan oil

Live Naturally: The Benefits of Argan Oil

(NaturalNews) Known by the Moroccan Berber community as the "Tree of Life", the Argan tree (Argania spinosa) has supported the people of these arid regions and their livestock for centuries. The leaves and fruit sustain goats, camels and sheep. Cattle live off the press-cake that remains after the oil has been extracted; humans eat the oil and the nut shells are used for fuel. Argan oil is produced from the kernels of the tree and is one of the rarest and most expensive oils in the world. Berber women have used Argan oil for centuries to protect and nourish their skin, hair and nails from the harsh conditions in which they live. Now Argan oil is gaining popularity as a "miracle ingredient" in the Western beauty product industry. It has extremely high levels of Vitamin E and 80% fatty acids which make it perfect for healing many skin ailments as well as protecting against premature aging caused by oxidation.

Healing and Protecting

The active substances called triterpenoids that occur in Argan Oil offer amazing skin protection benefits. These include tissue healing (scars), anti-inflammatory, sun-protective and disinfectant properties.

The oil contains 80% unsaturated fatty acids and is more resistant to oxidation than olive oil. Argan oil also contains 0.8% unsaponifiables (a large group of compounds also known as plant sterols or sterolins). Sterolins improve skin metabolism, reduce inflammation and promote excellent moisture retention.

Anti-aging

Argan is considered an effective anti-aging oil due to properties such as the high levels of vitamin E /tocopherols (anti-oxidants help neutralise free radical damage, which is important for skin exposed to polluted Western environments) and saponins (skin-softening agents). Besides cooling and soothing inflammation, it is also reputed to help reduce wrinkles by restoring the skin`s hydro-lipid layer.

Medicinal Properties

Argan oil contains rare plant sterols (schottenol and spinasterol), not found in other oils. It is believed that these phytosterols are unique in their combination and that there are no other vegetable oils with a comparable phytosterol composition. In general phytosterols reduce inflammation and help block cholesterol absorption from the intestines. They also show anti-cancer properties.

Argan oil facilitates digestion by increasing the concentration of pepsin in the gastric juice. It contains flavonoids that act as a natural anti-inflammatory both internally and externally.

The oil is considered highly beneficial for arthritic or rheumatic conditions.

It is helpful for lowering cholesterol levels, stimulating circulation and strengthening the body`s natural immunity.

It is used to soothe skin ailments like chickenpox, acne, psoriasis, and dry eczema. It is also used to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy.

Traditionally Argan oil is also reputed to have aphrodisiac and tonic properties.

Interesting Argan Oil Facts

Argan tree groves survive for 125 - 450 years, making them a valuable inheritance for future generations.

Argan oil has a similar fat content to olive oil and is used for similar purposes. Commercial Argan oil is a lot more expensive than olive oil. The Argan tree however lives longer than the Olive tree and requires no cultivation.

Traditionally the local Berber women collect the seeds and press them to obtain the Argan oil for domestic use. This is a laborious process taking about 12 - 20 hours of hand processing to produce one litre of Argan oil. Oil produced by this method will keep for 3 - 6 months because it has extremely high vitamin E levels and is considered oxidatively stable. Moroccan families produce the oil as needed from a store of the kernels, which will keep for 20 years unopened.

Article on Argan oil

Goats in Trees?

by Joe on Oct. 27th, 2005
in Life Science

19

                     comments

Add a new comment

Goats in trees.: Image courtesy Robbie's Photo Art's photos via Flickr's Creative Commons. This is such pure insanity that I thought was a total hoax the first time I saw it, but those really are goats and they really are in trees.

The tree the goats are in is an evergreen argan tree. It is found mostly only in Morocco. The tree reaches heights of 25-30 feet, and has a knobby, twisted trunk that allows for goat climbers. The goats climb the tree because they like to eat the fruit of the tree, which is similar to an olive.

Which is all well and good. Goats in trees. Perfectly natural.

Farmers actually follow the herds of goats as they move from tree to tree. Not because it is so strange to see goats in trees and the farmers like to point and stare, but because the fruit of the tree has a nut inside, which the goats can't digest, so they spit it up or excrete it which the farmers collect. The nut contains 1-3 kernels, which can be ground to make argan oil used in cooking and cosmetics. This oil has been collected by the people of the region for hundreds of years, but like many wild and useful things these days, the argan tree is slowly disappearing due to over-harvesting for the tree's wood and overgrazing by goats.

As a result a group of people and organizations have banded together to try to save the tree. To do so one of the primary locations where the trees grow has
been declared a biosphere preserve. It was also decided that by making the world aware of the oil, it's great taste and supposed anti-aging properties, would create a demand for it. However, the people who planned to market the oil could not envision people wanting to put an oil on their food or their face that was collected from goat excrement. As a result, a campaign is being led to ban grazing on the trees by goats during certain parts of the year to allow the fruit to ripen and fall off on its own. The fruit is then collected and turned into oil by oil cooperatives. So far, this arrangement seems to be working.

But I wonder how the goats feel about the whole thing.

Article on Eden Allure Argan oil

         5
         Jun

Organic Argan Oil Review-The Natural Skin Treatment That Is The Real Deal

Last year at this time, I happened upon a blog post for a natural skin treatment called organic Argan Oil also referred to as “liquid gold.” Organic Argan Oil has been known to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, strengthen elasticity, protect against stretch marks, and improve your skin’s overall health.

Organic Argan Oil, found exclusively in southwestern Morocco, has been the secret of Berber women for hundreds of years due to its amazing anti-aging, skin nourishing, and therapeutic properties.

Here is what I read:

“Do you want to diminish those wrinkles, crow’s feet, and those lines around the eyes? Do you wish to rejuvenate, and give your skin a healthy new glow? Do you have the desire to give your hair and nails a beautiful, new healthy sheen?”

Yes! Yes! Yes! I immediately pulled out my credit card, ordered a bottle of Eden Allure Pure Moroccan Argan Oil and waited anxiously.

A few days later, I ripped open the package. I obviously did not pay attention to the size of the bottle and was greatly disappointed as I looked at this small 2.2 oz bottle. I ordered the product for use on my body and I thought how long could this bottle possibly last?

To my surprise this small bottle of organic Argan Oil went a long way. It lasted five months and I found the product amazing. My skin was amazing. This was just the beginning of my addiction to this all natural skin treatment. I definitely had withdrawals when, the second time I tried to order they were sold out of it for about a month.

Along with my second order, I received a free beauty bar. You hear the expression squeaky clean and I kid you not, this is exactly how this product feels.

I said this was the beginning of my addiction……..

When I ran out of my facial night cream, I reached for my bottle of organic Argan Oil and started applying it before bedtime. I left it right there on my night stand and began using it every single night. All I can say is wow! After just 2 weeks, I suddenly noticed that the huge, deep wrinkle between my brows was barely visible. How can that be? I have been spending hundreds on expensive skin lotions, potions and creams hoping to minimize my wrinkles and this one natural skin treatment finally did the job.

In addition to losing the crevice between my brow, this natural skin treatment or “liquid gold” also eliminated the fine lines around my eyes. Had I known that this would happen, I would have taken a “before” pic for all to see. Again, wow, wow, wow.

Anyone looking to achieve younger looking skin, or treatments for skin inflammations must try Organic Argan Oil. There is no other natural skin treatment that comes close to what organic argan oil can do for you! Read the rest of my argan oil posts and decide for yourself.

Author’s note: if you do not commit to using this product daily for several months, you may not see the results I have achieved. Most people purchase a skin care product or weight loss product for that matter and never see it through. Like everything else on the market today, Argan oil will not work if you are just too lazy to use it.

Article on Argan oil

You are here: Argan Oil Shop » SkinCare » Get A Soft And Glowing Skin With Argan Oil!

Get A Soft And Glowing Skin With Argan Oil!

  Sep 01, 2010 | 0 comments

Argan oil is derived from the rare Argan tree that is found exclusively in the south west part of Morocco. This oil can be applied to your hair as well to bring shine and softness to you hair. It can also be used to strengthen and fortify dry and brittle nails.

Tips for Organic Health Care using Argan Oil
Here are some great tips for Organic Health Care using Argan Oil:

If you have extremely dry skin, spread Argan oil all over your body before you take your bath. Wait for a minimum of fifteen minutes and then soak your entire body in a warm bath. You will be able to feel the difference in your skin texture immediately.

Before going to bed, cleanse your entire face and then apply Argan oil on it. Next, morning you will wake up with rejuvenated skin. In case of any acne outbreak, apply directly to the affected area.

If you are suffering from cold sores, massage the oil on the affected area immediately on feeling any irritation.

Use Argan Oil for giving yourself a reviving and soothing massage. Being anti-inflammatory, it relaxes the tired body to a great extent. How can an oil help clean up acne, when it is an oily skin that leads to pimples in the first place? But the Argan oil and acne story is different.

Arganoil is special oil obtained from the nut of the tree grown extensively in the Morocco region of Africa. Tribal people of the African desert regions have used the oil for thousands of years to maintain a healthy body and skin. They have also been eating Argan oil for centuries to improve blood circulation.

How is Acne caused?
The exact causes of acne are unknown. The causes that have been mentioned are overactive oil glands, dietary problems and dirty skin because of hyper activity of normal skin bacteria and blockage of the skin pores.Oil, whether secreted naturally from the skin or left behind due to improper cleaning, can clog pores.

Beneficial Elements in Argan Oil
Though Argan products are classified as oil, they leave behind no irritating residue and actually help clean up the skin. Argan oil used as a moisturizer and skin cream also works as a sunscreen and a barrier against pollution. The main elements that give Argan oil its special curative properties are:

Squalene, which is used in sunscreens and is said to prevent skin cancer. Squalene also prevents atmospheric pollution from damaging the skin.

Vitamin F is known for its anti-aging properties. It helps tighten the skin, close open pores and smooth out wrinkles.

Vitamin E is another element that is known for keeping skin young and fresh. Almost all sunscreens and anti-aging creams have Vitamin E in them.

Buy only 100% pure Argan oil!
Argan oil must be processed in a certain way to retain its natural properties. When buying Argan products always look for a manufacturer offering you 100% pure Argan oil lotions, creams and moisturizers.

Both beauty and health experts have been talking so much about the benefits of this oil that several online stores have sprung up to dupe unsuspecting buyers looking for a quick fix to their skin problems. Argan oil is less effective when processed with chemicals.

No side effects
Several celebrities have openly said that they have found Argan oil products score over the regular chemical products they use. Argan oil creams and lotions can be used on a daily basis without any side-effects. Most people like its’ cool feel and woman also try it as a base for their make-up every morning.

Argan oil also helps clean out fine lines and wrinkles. Argan oil can also be used as hair oil. An Argan oil massage twice a week can help you maintain long and healthy hair easily.

Some Other Tips
When treating acne with Argan oil creams, improve your dietary habits also. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and adopt an exercise routine. Try to stay away from ice-creams, oily food and aerated drinks.

Stress also causes pimples and acne, hence try and practice some sort of meditation also. Most adults who suffer from acne treat only their skin without understanding that the problem relates to their overall lifestyle.

Article on Argan oil

You are here: Argan Oil Shop » Hair » Taking Care Of Your Hair With Argan Oil!

Taking Care Of Your Hair With Argan Oil!

  Sep 01, 2010 | 0 comments

Humans by nature are vain. We want to look our best always from head to foot. One of the ways of looking our best is by having a shinning and glowing hair, not only for women but also for men. This is the reason why hair moisturizers and other hair products are popular in the market.

People don’t actually know that products like these are one of the reasons why hair becomes dry and damaged. Excessive hair treatments can damage the hair, but these damages can easily be reversed.

What does it contain?
Argan oil contains several chemical compounds that is not only good for the skin but also to one’s body and hair. One of these chemical compounds is tocopherol or what is widely known as vitamin E. This vitamin helps in the elimination of free radicals that causes cell damage.

Argan oil also contains essential fatty acids. This fatty acid is of great help in maintaining the impermeability of the skin as well as keeping it water-proof. Additionally, essential fatty acid is also noted as a necessity in keeping healthy hair and nails.

Moreover, it also contains squalane, a compound that is essential in maintaining a moisturize hair and scalp.

Argan Oil And The Scalp
Argan Oil Does not only contain moisture of the hair, but helps in the wellness of the scalp. As it is known – damaged scalp usually produces damaged or ugly looking hair. Healthy scalp with healthy hair follicles produce great looking hair as well.

What do these compounds do in maintaining a beautiful hair?
Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant. As mentioned above, this vitamin helps eliminate free radicals and maintains proper blood circulation all throughout the body, including the scalp. When your scalp doesn’t have proper circulation, your hair will not have enough nutrients, thus causing your hair to easily break and abnormal falling hair. This is the reason why vitamin E is one of the key components of keeping you hair healthy and strong.

On the other hand, essential fatty acid has a different effect on hair than that of vitamin E. Essential fatty acid is an essential component for hair-regeneration and growth. The most specific essential fatty acid responsible for this is the Omega 3 essential fatty acid. It also nourishes hair from the inside, feeding the follicles to stimulate growth and healthy hair.

Lastly, Argan oil contains squalane, a compound that is well known for keeping skin moisturize. It doesn’t only moisturize the skin but also the scalp and the hair. As we all know, our hair already have its natural oil but then, we seldom loss this oil because of external factors like heat of the sun and dirt. Squalane does it job by adding up the natural oil that our scalp already had the keeping our hair healthy and shiny.

Why use Argan oil instead of some other hair products?
Vitamin E, Squalane and essential fatty acids are just some of the basic components a regular shampoo or conditioner has. The only difference is that Argan oil is obtained by traditional method, which means that Argan oil is all natural unlike other hair products that had been through many chemical processes.

Article on Argan oil

You are here: Argan Oil Shop » Anti-Aging » Argan Oil The Natural Anti Aging Product!

Argan Oil The Natural Anti Aging Product!

  Aug 31, 2010 | 0 comments

Argan oil is helping women and men look younger than they have in years. This liquid gold is rich with Vitamin E and essential fatty acids among other beneficial nutrients and enzymes. Individually and collectively these nutrients help your skin look radiant while diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

People are often amazed at how healthy your skin looks – and it should! It will be healthier than it has ever been before thanks to argan oil’s powerful collection of vitamins and nutrients.

Argan Oil Natural Anti-Aging – What else should I know?
If you are interested in argan oil natural anti-aging products you should know that the oil has a noticeable scent. The scent does not last long. Be aware of this so you do not worry when you use it for the first time.

Another thing to be aware of is that not all products use argan oil in the same concentration. Pure argan oil is the most effective. You will find that various products will contain varying concentrations of the oil which means they will have varying degrees of effectiveness.

You should test argan oil on a small part of your face or skin to see if you have any reaction to it. Though reactions are rare, they are possible. You should also speak to your health care professional if you are using any topical medications or other medications that may react with the oil.
Argan oil may not be literally the fountain of youth, but it is the closest thing to one that has been found. Moroccan women, and women in nearby areas have known this powerful secret to anti-aging for years. Now you too can see how effective it is. Rejuvenate your skin by trying an argan oil natural anti-aging regimen

Article on Argan oil

Home » Beauty » Ask the Beauty Chick…

       Ask the Beauty Chick…
by Shayna Teicher on August 25, 2009

     3

Dear Beauty Chick,
At a popular hair salon the stylist recommended that I use a hair oil to make my hair silkier, shinier and in better condition. It’s argan based which I’ve heard is good, and he told me it was natural, but there seem like an awful lot of chemical-sounding ingredients in it. I really liked the smell and how my hair looked when I used it but I’m wondering how ‘natural’ it really is. These are the ingredients as listed on the bottle.

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Butylphenyl, MethylPropional, Argania Spinoza Kernal Oil (Aragan Oil), Linseed (Linum Usitatissimum) Extract, Fragrance Supplement, D&C Yellow-11, D&C Red-17, Coumarin, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone

Thank you,
B

Dear B,

That’s great that you’re willing to look for a more natural alternative to this product that you, admittedly, like the end results of. I know how difficult it is to feel like you have to sacrifice results for questionable ingredients. Unfortunately, your concerns about the ingredients are not without merit, but the good news is that there are some awesome products out there with a much better ingredient profile that should give you just as great results.

You are absolutely right about Argan Oil being a great ingredient. One of the rarest (and consequentially, one of the most expensive) oils in the world, Argan oil is exceptionally rich in natural tocopherols (vitamin E) and is also rich in phenols and phenolic acid, carotenes, squalene and essential fatty acids (a.k.a. omega oils). Basically, the chemical makeup of this natural oil gives it the ability to improve hair strength and health as well as help increase shine and decrease frizziness. Linseed Oil is also a great ingredient for hair products as it is moisturizing and high in linoleic acid, an unsaturated fatty acid and antioxidant which studies have shown to be effective in cell regulation and skin-barrier repair as well as having anti-inflammatory benefits.

The first three ingredients listed are silicones. While silicones are derived from Silica (a naturally occurring mineral) they are generally considered to be synthetics. Silicones do have many legitimate medical uses, however in hair products they mainly serve the purpose of coating the hair shaft to give it a silkier feel. They also have water-repelling properties, which help to cut down on frizz. The downside, they can build up over time, weighing down the hair and making it dull a limp. It is not so much that the silicones themselves damage the hair, but rather that they simply coat it, masking any damage rather than actually improving it at a cellular level. The silicones coating the hair can also prevent other, more beneficial ingredients from actually penetrating the hair so that they can improve it structurally. Essentially, the silicones aren’t necessarily bad, they just don’t provide anything more than a temporary benefit.

The rest of the ingredients, I regret, are questionable. Butylphenly MethylPropional is a synthetic fragrance/odor-masking ingredient (it worries me when there is more of a fragrance ingredient in a product than the active ingredients!). Then, of course “fragrance supplement” indicates a synthetic perfume, otherwise they would promote that they use all-natural fragrance, although you could always call the company to check. Then you have some dyes (in my opinion, unnecessary). Coumarin and Alpha Isomethyle Ionone are also fragrance ingredients as well and are often synthetic. Benzyle Benzoate is a fragrance ingredient as well as a solvent.

My verdict: the argan and linseed oils are great, everything else is expendable, but if the other products you use are largely natural in formulation and you really love this product and aren’t sensitive to it, it’s not the worst product you could use. Please note, however, that if you were putting it directly on your skin I would have a very different opinion since, unlike the hair, the skin much more easily absorbs ingredients into the body and bloodstream. If you still want to go for a purer product (it’s certainly worth a try) I highly recommend Rare Elements El Treatment as a weekly treatment. It contains only 100% pure natural oils and no silicones, dyes, fragrances, or preservatives. Having used this myself I can tell you it is a fantastic product and the more you use it, the more you see real, long-term results in your hairs’ appearance, shininess and scalp health.

An option for styling is Jonathan Product Green Rootine Silkening Crème. I’ve found that, depending on your hair type, this one can require a little playing to find the best way to use it but once you get it right, it’s brilliant. I rub a pearl-sized amount between my palms and then work it through towel dried hair-staying away from the roots-and it give me perfectly soft, shiny waves with no greasiness. I did search rather extensively for a hair product that was argan oil based but did not contain the types of ingredients we are trying to avoid and was unable to find one, however you can purchase pure argan oil and use it as a treatment on its own.

Always,
The Beauty Chick

Have a beauty question? Build. Live." target="_blank">Vanillawood, a design/build firm located in Portland’s Pearl District.

Vanillawood offers a complete, personalized design vision for any location or environment, be it your home or workspace. She has offered me her great expertise in expanding the light radiance of the salon with the design and installation of seven-foot high custom-cut mirrors into the space.

Everyone wants to see their own natural beauty, and these mirrors dramatically reflect that, giving a sense of glamor and celebration, giving the loft a new backstage filmset or photoshoot feel.

I really admire Kricken for her love towards raising a beautiful family while running a successful business, and still always remaining fashion forward. I am totally excited about doing her hair for her. Her hair is edgy and modern. The color is bright and holds much depth to it. I guess if you want to see. . . you’ll have to visit Vanillawood. Yes, Kricken, you must have your hair down. Girls, its just too damaging to pull your hair back all too often. For a less damaging up-look… put your hair into a loose top-bun.

p.s. I’ll soon be getting custom pillows from Vanillawood for my sofa. The oil has been extracted and used for cooking purposes for thousands of years in Africa, but it has only recently gained popularity in the West for use in hair products, due to its vitamin-rich content.

Argan oil contains over 70% Omega-3 and Omega-6 unsaturated fatty acids, which gives it the ability to penetrate the hair shaft and restore damaged hair. It is also extremely rich in Vitamin E, or tocopherols, which helps stimulate hair growth. Because argan oil so easily absorbs into the hair, it quickly hydrates and adds moisture, leaving hair soft and shiny. This is a great oil to use to de-frizz curly hair, or add life to chemically treated or damaged hair.

The really fabulous news is that unlike many exotic imports these days, the production and sale of argan oil is regulated and protected, so there is no exploitation of the workers or the environment. All argan oil is produced by a women’s cooperative in Morroco, with the proceeds going directly to the community and to reforestation projects to protect the argan tree while still meeting the increased demands for this exceptional product.

Both Moroccan Oil hair products, and locally scented and bottled argan oil by OLO Fragrance are now available at the hair studio, located inside the Ford Building at SE 11th and Division.

Filed under: Hair | Comment (0) Article tags: argan, ford building, Hair, hair care, hair oil, moroccan, portland oregon, southeast portland

Hot Pick…

September 6th, 2010

Well, as all of us are feeling the weather shift into Autumn, this is exciting… who doesn’t love to wear soft warm garments to keep us inspired through winter and with hair colors to bring warmth back in… The scents of the season are also changing.

Bringing me to my HOT PICK product of this season. I’ve introduced MoroccanOil and MoroccanOil Luminous Hairspray, thanks to Melodie’s recommendation (thanks Mel!). Many of the best fashion magazines have been writing about these argan oil based products as one of the best beauty buys. This treatment is incredibly easy to use, just applying when the hair is damp and, wallah, you have healthy, shiny, beautiful, de-frizzed hair. This product also helps with overly damaged or dry hair.

With hairspray, it generally leaves a residue or a tact to the hair. This MoroccanOil hairspray is not that, its lightweight and holds the style the entire day, allowing you to run your fingers through your hair and not feel the product, which I always love. The best thing about these products is that they are non-animal tested and contain no animal ingredients. What’s not to love?

Filed under: Hair | Comment (0) Article tags: Hair, hair care, hair oil, healthy hair, moroccan, new portland, portland oregon, southeast portland

OLO Fragrance

August 10th, 2010

OLO Fragrance is a sexy fragrance line created by my dear friend Heather.
